Mason Lake Fishing Area

Mason Lake Fishing Area

With great fishing, camping, and incredible views, it's hard not to want to stay here forever. Easy accessibility makes this a go-to for Brown Trout from the boat, or Bullhead from the shore.

Getting there

From the intersection of Route 28 and Route 30 in Indian Lake follow Route 30 toward Speculator. Continue on Route 30 past the Lewey Lake Campground and locate Mason Lake on the right about 4 miles further. There is a designated parking area for the lake. Other access point do exist on the north side of the lake off the dirt road to Perkins Clearing.

Fishing

Bullhead fishing is a favorite, especially along Perkins Clearing Road. For brown trout, the best fishing is from a boat. This allows access to deeper, and cooler, waters in the center of the pond.

There is good shore fishing from Route 30 but much better from Perkins Clearing Road on the north side where campsites are available. Best for bullhead fishing

Canoe and Kayak access only, but you can have small outboards if you so choose to carry them down.

Fish for: Perch, Bullhead, Brown Trout

Camping

Primitive sites available on Perkins Clearing Road on the north side.

Ice Fishing
