Celebrate Independence Day in the heart of the Adirondacks at the Speculator Fireworks Celebration, proudly hosted by the Village of Speculator.Join friends, family, and neighbors on Friday, July 3rd at 9:30 PM at the Speculator Public Park – Osborne Point and the Speculator Public Beach, as the night sky comes alive with a spectacular fireworks display over the water.This cherished community tradition brings people together each year to honor our nation’s heritage with a memorable evening of light, color, and small-town pride. Town of Wells and Wells Historical Society 250th Celebration of AmericaJoin us for a memorable morning honoring America’s founding and the proud history of Wells and the Adirondacks.July 4 from 9 am - NoonMorning Celebration at the MuseumLearn about the 20 local Revolutionary War soldiers who helped shape the birth of our nation.Enjoy live and recorded music from the Revolutionary Era, along with songs celebrating Wells and the Adirondacks by beloved local singer-songwriter Pete Craig.Relax with refreshments on the porch while exploring the Museum’s historic collections.Be among the first to experience the unveiling of a brand-new exhibit at 10 AM, featuring renowned sculptor John Van Alstine and fellow acclaimed sculptor Caroline Ramersdorfer.You’ll also discover the story of a famous sculptor who got his start in Wells, formerly known as Wellstown. Learn which prominent political figure he sculpted and hear how the Historical Society acquired the molds.Family ActivitiesThroughout the morning, Kathy Dale, and Aiden and Shane Unterborn will lead children in outdoor games from the colonial period. The Museum’s Annex will also be open, offering visitors a chance to explore tools, trades, and everyday life from the 1800s.Afternoon Events at the Beach1 pm - The annual Fourth of July Boat Parade sponsored by the Algonquin Lake Association. Everyone is invited to decorate their boats and join the parade.2 pm - The Junior Class will host a BBQ fundraiser at the beach.Come celebrate our nation’s history, our local heritage, and the enduring spirit of our mountain community—a wonderful way to spend the Fourth of July in Wells!
