| S.P.E.C. Inc.
(Supporting People and Everyday Causes) is a non-profit organization
whose 7 members are local young people dedicated to helping
out others in and around the Speculator area. President Mike
Tracy and the other members selflessly volunteer their time
to plan, organized, advertise, and run various types of events
to raise money for local causes. All event proceeds go directly
to those in need. S.P.E.C. also recently
started a scholarship fund that is awarded to a local college-bound
student each year.
“We are inspired by the people in our community who have
gone out of their way to support us,” stated Mike Tracy. “We
started off small and hopeful with our first event in 2005
which was a spaghetti dinner and tricky tray fund-raiser for
Mary Snider. The support and participation that was given
by the community was so great that it inspired us to continue.
We believe that in a small and close-knit community like ours,
it is important for everyone to support and help one another.
S.P.E.C. is looking forward to working with
the community in many events in the future.”
Some other recent S.P.E.C. events include
a benefit dinner for Janet Germain and an Italian Night Dinner
to benefit the S.P.E.C. scholarship fund.
The organization also provided financial support to help the
Rajca family get Marines to Speculator for their Marine son’s
funeral services.
